I graduated from NRS Medical college Kolkata and got MD degree in Paediatrics from the Calcutta University in 1998. Then I went to England and worked there for 11 years; the last 2 years as Consultant in Durham Hospital NHS Trust England. I obtained MRCPCH, FRCPCH and CCT in England. I returned to Kolkata in 2012 and joined as Assistant Prof and then became Associate Professor in RKM Seva Pratisthan, and also started working as Neonatologist and Paediatrician in AMRI Hospital. In the course of my career I trained medical students, became thesis guide for several MD students, became examiner for DCH, DNB, and MRCPCH clinical conducted by thr Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health, UK.
I first started hypothermia for the treatment of asphyxiated babies (Cooling) in RKM - first ever in the city!
‘Let me do what is right for our Children’ - I believe in this!
My style of paediatric practice is based on this principle!
Hence be it in Sisumongal Hospital, which is charitable, or be it in AMRI hospital, where I cater well-off patients, my prescriptions are similar. I follow established guidelines as I feel this is the right way to keep our children safe. At the end of the day, when I see the smile on the face of an ailing child, I feel I have chosen the right profession!
